PRESS RELEASE – November 29, 2010
Kristy Tallman Kicks off Spirit of The Wolf Tour Early for Hometown
On December 17, 2010 at 8:00 pm Kristy Tallman, Chesterfield’s own award winning Psychological Thriller/Horror and Suspense author has chosen to kick off her Spirit of the Wolf Tour – Loyalty to the Tribes in Chester, VA at The Wild Rose Café. For her upcoming novel Widow’s Blood based on native American folklore and tradition she has chosen to donate 10 percent of all her sales prior to the sponsorship and donations of all five of her titles to the Native American Ways/Traditions, Language and Education programs to ensure they continue to thrive.
“It’s a bit early but with the tour we have prepared ahead of us I don’t know when we will get a chance to get back home for a signing, also we need to start preparing for the future of the tour and spreading awareness of our need for sponsorship throughout the year.” says Kristy Tallman, “It’s also a great chance to get together with all our home-grown friends and have a nice Christmas celebration.”
The tour Tallman has planned stretches across the nation and even into the United Kingdom for 2011. She’s not just going to be doing conventions but will be visiting reservations for motivational speeches and donating copies of all her books to the Native American libraries both reservation libraries and for the over 30 Native American colleges. The monetary funds are planned to go to the Native Ways Federation.
Tallman has four bands of Native American in her family and has always wanted to do something to ensure that the tribes are given the same opportunities as the rest of the nation. With the knowledge that much of their traditions are fading and their languages are getting lost the Native Ways Foundation was formed in 2006. Being a young organization they need help and Tallman wants to be part of that in the only way she can; through her touring and sponsors.
Tallman has been a figure on the Virginia literary scene for years, native born and serving in the writing industry since 1996. She has taken part in several benefit programs such as her role in a benefit poetry collection, “Nox: Dark Poets Against Abuse”, the proceeds from which were donated to CASA (Community Action Stops Abuse) of St. Petersburg, a safe haven organization for women and children in the Tampa Bay area and she offers a portion of her proceeds for every copy sold of The All-Soul’s Faire to one of the Blue Knights Chapters in her surrounding town of Chester. In 2008 she also donated all her sales to “Bikers Against Hunger” an east coast organization that feeds the hungry here at home in our country.
“To make money just for writing is a dream come true but to be able to turn around and give back to the people or for the people who make it possible to me is what one should do just because it’s right.” says Tallman. I truly have high hopes for this tour and am excited to kick it off right here at home. We have many Native American tribes right in the area that will benefit from this as well.”
